Wacipi: Celebrating Native American Cultures

On April 16, 2009 the Hartford Building lobby and patio at the Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, Kentucty was the scene of Wacipi: Celebrating Native American Cultures. Wacipi (pronounced wa-chee-pee) means community celebration and powwow. Offering cultural understanding about Native American culture, the Wacipi was attended by hundreds of students, faculty and community members. The event was highlighted by by a Powwow and a performance by Pura Fé in the lobby. Various displays and activities such as a community mural project took place on the patio.
